Grasmere is a compact Lakeland village around a small lake, with a church, a village green and a high ring of fells. William Wordsworth lived here for fourteen years and called it the loveliest spot that man hath ever found, and it remains a place of pilgrimage for lovers of poetry and walking.
It is also home to a famous gingerbread shop, short lakeside paths and easy access to bigger walks such as Easedale Tarn and Helm Crag.
