What to expect
A popular walk from Grasmere follows a track beside Sourmilk Gill, a series of waterfalls, up to Easedale Tarn, a mountain pool beneath a ring of crags. The distance is about three miles there and back, with a steady climb of around 250 metres. The path is mostly clear, but it can be steep, rocky and wet in places, and is more demanding than the lakeside walks.
Tips before you go
- Wear proper boots, as the path is rocky and can be wet.
- The waterfalls are at their best after rain, but streams can swell.
- Carry waterproofs, as the weather can change quickly.
