Ullswater is the second-largest lake in the Lake District, a long, narrow, winding lake between high fells, often called the most beautiful of them all. Historic steamers carry passengers along its length, and walking trails line the shore.
It is famous for Aira Force waterfall, the daffodils that inspired Wordsworth and the classic Helvellyn route via Striding Edge, and is quieter than Windermere.
