Alnwick, pronounced Annick, is a handsome stone market town dominated by a huge castle, the second-largest inhabited castle in England, which has appeared in the Harry Potter films. It is also home to The Alnwick Garden, with its treehouse and water features.
It has a famous second-hand bookshop in a Victorian railway station, and some of Northumberland's best beaches and villages, such as Alnmouth and Craster, are just a few miles away.
