Kelso is an elegant Borders town at the meeting of the Tweed and Teviot rivers, with a large cobbled square surrounded by Georgian buildings, a ruined abbey and a graceful bridge. Floors Castle, the largest inhabited house in Scotland, stands on the edge of town.
It has a good food scene, a racecourse and some of the best fishing in Scotland, and is near the border with England, a short drive from Berwick.
