What to expect
Edinburgh Castle stands on an extinct volcanic rock above the city and is Scotland's most visited paid attraction. Inside you can see the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, the Stone of Destiny, the Great Hall and the Royal Palace. The One O'Clock Gun fires from the battlements at 1pm most days. The castle is hilly and cobbled throughout.
Tips before you go
