A weekend in Fort William

The outdoor capital of the Highlands, at the foot of Ben Nevis

Fort William sits on the shore of Loch Linnhe beneath Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. It is the base for walking, climbing, mountain biking and skiing, and the starting point of the Jacobite steam train.

The town itself is practical rather than pretty, but the scenery is outstanding and you can be in the hills within minutes.
