What to expect
Buachaille Etive Mor is the great pyramid of rock that guards the entrance to Glen Etive and is one of the most photographed mountains in Scotland. The main summit, Stob Dearg, is a Munro of 1,022 metres. The common route climbs the steep Coire na Tulaich gully, which is loose and rocky in summer and an avalanche risk in winter, so it is a hard walk best left to experienced hillwalkers.
Tips before you go
- This is a serious mountain day, with steep scree and a rocky summit.
- Do not attempt it in winter conditions without the right skills and equipment.
- For a gentler outing with the same views, walk the path through Lairig Gartain.
