Alfriston is a pretty village in the Cuckmere Valley on the South Downs, with a historic high street of timber-framed houses, old inns and a village green. It is also the home of the Clergy House, the first property ever bought by the National Trust, in 1896.
The South Downs Way crosses the valley, and it is a short walk or drive to Cuckmere Haven and the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters.
