What to expect
Ben Lomond is a Munro of 974 metres on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, and the most southerly of Scotland's high peaks. The standard route, the Tourist Path, starts at Rowardennan and climbs steadily to the summit, with huge views over the loch and the Highlands, about seven miles return. It is a steady but demanding climb, and busy at weekends.
Tips before you go
- Start early to avoid crowds and give yourself plenty of daylight.
- The summit can be cloudy and cold even in summer.
- Wear boots and carry waterproofs, food and water.
