Llangollen is a small Welsh town on the River Dee, with a stone bridge, a steam railway, a canal and a hilltop castle ruin. It is best known for the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that carries the canal 38 metres above the River Dee, and for its International Musical Eisteddfod each July.
It sits between the Berwyn Mountains and the Clwydian Range, and is a good base for walkers, canal boaters and railway fans.
