What to expect
The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge links Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in a single walk of about 24 miles, with roughly 1,600 metres of climbing. It starts and finishes at Horton in Ribblesdale, where walkers traditionally clock in and out at the cafe. It is one of the best-known long walks in England, and a serious test of fitness.
Tips before you go
- Aim to finish in under 12 hours, and set off at dawn.
- Carry food, water, a map and a head torch, and check the weather carefully.
- Many people split it across two days, or tackle one peak at a time.
