What to expect
Kinder Scout is the highest point in the Peak District at 636 metres. It is a wide, wild plateau of peat and gritstone edges, and it is famous for the 1932 mass trespass that helped open up access to the countryside. The classic route starts in Edale and climbs by Grindsbrook or Jacob's Ladder. It is boggy and hard to navigate in mist.
Tips before you go
- Waterproof boots are essential, as the plateau is boggy.
- In low cloud, good navigation skills are needed.
- Edale has a railway station and several pubs for after the walk.
