What to expect
The Settle to Carlisle line is one of England's most scenic railway journeys, crossing the Yorkshire Dales and the Eden Valley over 73 miles. The line features the Ribblehead Viaduct, with 24 arches, and several high moorland stations. It is a regular train service, so you can use it for walks, getting off at a station and returning by a later train.
Tips before you go
- Check the timetable, as services can be limited.
- Combine with a walk from Ribblehead or Dent.
- Sit on the right side heading north for the best views, but views are good on both sides.
