What to expect
A circular walk from Malham village takes in Malham Cove, an 80-metre limestone cliff with a clints-and-grikes pavement on top, and Gordale Scar, a dramatic gorge with a waterfall. The pavement was a filming location for a Harry Potter film. The terrain is mostly good paths with some steps and rocky sections, so it suits most reasonably fit walkers.
Tips before you go
- The limestone pavement is uneven and can be slippery when wet.
- Peregrine falcons often nest on the cove in spring.
- Malham village has cafes and pubs for a post-walk meal.

Frequently asked questions
Is the walk suitable for families?
Older children usually enjoy it. The cove path has steps and the pavement has gaps between the blocks, so supervise younger children carefully.
