What to expect
The ferry from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull takes about 50 minutes and is one of the most scenic short crossings in Scotland, passing Kerrera, Lismore and the mountains of Morvern. On the other side you can walk or take a bus to Duart Castle, or continue to Tobermory. It is an easy way to get a taste of the islands without staying overnight.
Tips before you go
- Sailings are run by CalMac and fill up in summer, so book vehicle spaces early.
- Foot passengers can usually buy tickets on the day, though it is wise to check the timetable.
- Take waterproofs, as it is often breezy and wet on deck.
