Bradford on Avon is an attractive town of honey-coloured stone buildings, built on steep hills above the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal. A small Saxon church, built about a thousand years ago, is one of the best-preserved in England.
It is a quieter, more local alternative to Bath, less than 15 minutes away by train, and a lovely place to walk along the canal.
