Aldeburgh is an elegant, quietly arty seaside town on the Suffolk coast, with a long shingle beach, brightly coloured houses and a high street of independent shops. It is the home of the composer Benjamin Britten, and the Aldeburgh Festival of music each June.
The town is famous for its fish and chips, and a giant steel scallop sculpture stands on the beach. Orford Ness and Snape Maltings are close by.
