What to expect
Holkham Beach is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches in England, a vast sweep of sand backed by dunes and pine woods within a national nature reserve. It is popular with walkers, families and dog owners, and is a filming location for Shakespeare in Love. At low tide the sand seems to go on forever. Check tide times, because the sea can cut off parts of the beach.
Tips before you go
- Check tide times before walking far from the entrance.
- Some areas have seasonal dog restrictions, so look for signs.
- Bring your own food, as facilities are limited.
