What to expect
St Davids Cathedral lies in a hollow beside a stream, hidden from the sea and any raiders by the surrounding hills. The present building dates mostly from the 12th century, with a fine oak ceiling and a shrine to St David, the patron saint of Wales. The ruined Bishop's Palace next door adds to the atmosphere, and the whole site is peaceful and beautiful.
Tips before you go
- Services and concerts may close parts of the cathedral, so check before you go.
- The cathedral has a cafe, and a visitor centre in the cloister.
- Combine with the Bishop's Palace, which has a separate admission.
