What to expect
Speyside has more distilleries than any other whisky region in Scotland, with around fifty working sites packed into a small area of glens and farmland. The Malt Whisky Trail links several of them, along with a cooperage that makes the barrels. Famous names such as Glenfiddich and Glenlivet are open for tours, and the area is beautiful, with rivers, castles and distant hills.
Tips before you go
- Plan a loop of two or three distilleries, rather than trying to see them all.
- Book tours in advance, as places are limited.
- Use a designated driver, or book a driver tour.
