What to expect
Punting on the River Cam is one of Cambridge's signature experiences. Glide along the Backs, passing King's College, Clare Bridge and Queens' College's Mathematical Bridge. You can be steered by a chauffeur or hire a punt and try it yourself, which is harder than it looks. Boats are available at several points along the river, and queues build in summer.
Tips before you go
- Book ahead in summer, or go early in the day.
- If you try punting yourself, expect a wobbly start.
- Wear layers as it can be breezy on the river.
