What to expect
Kent has become one of England's best wine regions, thanks to its chalky soils and warm climate, and some of its sparkling wines have beaten champagnes in blind tastings. Many vineyards, such as those around Canterbury and Ashford, run tours of the vines and cellars, followed by a tasting. The vineyards are pretty, and often have restaurants or cafes.
Tips before you go
- Book tours and tastings ahead, as many sell out.
- Choose a designated driver, or book a guided tour with transport.
- Combine with Canterbury or the Kent coast.
