Bridgnorth is a handsome market town on the River Severn, split into High Town on a sandstone cliff and Low Town beside the river. A short funicular, the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, links the two, and it is said to be the steepest inland railway in England.
It is also the end of the Severn Valley Railway steam line, and has a ruined castle with a leaning tower, a Georgian town hall and good walks beside the river.
