What to expect
Oban is known as the seafood capital of Scotland, and the harbour is lined with stalls, shacks and restaurants selling langoustines, scallops, crab and fresh fish straight from the boats. A plate of just-landed shellfish eaten on the quay is hard to beat. You can also buy fresh seafood to take away, and visit the nearby island of Kerrera.
Tips before you go
- Stalls often close in the afternoon, so go for lunch.
- Book restaurants in the evening, particularly in summer.
- Try langoustines, which are a local speciality.
