What to expect
A gentle riverside walk between Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter is one of the Cotswolds' classic strolls, about a mile and a half each way along the River Eye, through meadows and past honey-coloured stone cottages. It is easy to extend to Bourton-on-the-Water. Finish at a village pub for lunch. This is a good first walk for families.
Tips before you go
- Book a table at your chosen pub, especially at weekends.
- Footpaths can be muddy after rain.
- Parking in the villages is tight, so use the signed car parks.
